Hello all,

Hoping you can help me out.

There is a blue tube that runs adjacent to the fuel overflow drain tube and valve vent tube that I can't identify. Looked at quite a few diagrams and no luck.

This blue tube terminates into the block behind the fuel filter via a 90 degree fitting.

The reason I ask is that I am dealing with an issue with coolant dripping from this line.

ALSO, how common is it to get a bad thermostat.... just replaced my 2nd thermostat and now with the new one the tractor won't get to temp like it is stuck open..... but it is brand new! Go figure.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

Cheers, Greg.

Got pics of the tube and its placement? I have 1.5L ('04) and 1.7L ('13) Shibauras and full factory manuals for them. Can't be much different

Thanks for your reply..... the 2nd pic illustrates the tube at its bottom.... the 1st pic illustrates where it is connected to the block behind the fuel filter. Sorry for the bad quality but pretty crowded area of the tractor. Did look at manuals sourced online but could not find or id this tube..... thanks for your interest and cheers,

Looks like it's just the crankcase breather pipe. Definitely shouldn't have coolant coming from it though.

Thanks for your reply. Should or shouldn't have coolant coming through it. I have had coolant coming through it when it has over heated or when I had to replace my thermostat. But it stopped after replacing the thermostat.

Curious too if you have had DOA thermostats or ones that failed prematurely...... from the looks of things the new one I just popped in is stuck open as the tractor doesn't heat up.

Was going to pop it into some hot water, but haven't had a chance to yet.

Thanks again and cheers, Greg.

Oh sorry. Yes, shouldn't. Just edited the post.

The hose with the coolant leak in the first pic is the engine block coolant drain hose. It connects to a drain fitting bolted on the right front side of the front axle support. That drain fitting also accepts a similar hose connected to the bottom radiator tank. The common drain fitting allows complete draining of the cooling system at a single point. Your leak is either from the hose/nipple connection at the engine block or from the threads where the block fitting is screwed into the block. The tapered thread connection between the block and fitting is a common leak point. Shibaura was very stingy with three sealant at that spot.

The two hoses in the second photo are the fuel filler neck drain tube and the crankcase vent tube. Coolant dripping from either of these tubes is probably running down the OUTSIDE of the tube from the coolant leak identified in photo 1.

 I was typing a post #4 and ran out with a flashlight to look under hoods. This could be #8.

Neither of my big Shibauras have that feature, but I wouldn't mind if they did.

btw, agree that it's as likely leaking at the installation (o-ring?) and running down the outside of the tube.

After a closer look, the '04 TC 33DA does have the fitting/valve, just not the tube.

Lucky for me everything is dry as a bone around it, and I'm not approaching it until the refractometer shows I need a coolant change.
