Tractor
Kubota L2800 4WD FEL
I have someone wanting to by my 2004 L2800 4wd with FEL and I need to get an idea of a fair price. It has 345 hours on it and will come with:

Bush Hog 600sql
Woods box blade
Leinback Post hole digger

The tires are AG with plenty of life left. Overall the tractor is in good condition with what I would consider normal wear and tear for a 14 year old tractor with low hours.

Suggested price???

Thanks
Wade

$13,000 ballpark for everything.
$11,000 ballpark for tractor loader only

BIG question, HST or Gear??? Would love to hear what it does sell for... If it's HST, add a grand to LD1's numbers.

Its a gear and will need a clutch. I have it listed now at $10k firm or $11.5k if I have a clutch put in it. Tractor has 391 hours on it. It will also need one headlight lens. I have had a good bit of interest since I posted it on CL Saturday. Am I priced too low\high or just right?

Thanks
Wade

Now you have acknowledged problems. Problems should have been part of Post #1.

The number of people who can manage a clutch/gear transmission these days is limited. The repair required will amplify buyer concern over operating a clutch/gear tractor.

I think you will be fortunate if you collect $10,000 with problems.
Few potential buyers solicited via CL are willing to pay the CL asking price.

You will likely realize more revenue selling the tractor and good quality implements separately.

Anyone needing only 1/3 or 2/3 of your implements will value the residual(s) at zero.

I'm going to schedule an appointment this week to have the clutch replaced. It is going to be roughly $1200. Once I do that I will raise the asking price up to try and recoup some of the money. I went ahead and listed it just to see what kind of interest I would get but made sure to put in the ad that it will need a clutch and posted it at a price with me having the clutch fixed and with me not having the clutch fixed. I have had some interest so far.

Thanks
Wade

I would have just split the tractor and fixed the clutch myself. The cost of the clutch is only $150 or so aftermarket, and a new clutch is not a big job.

Like most things, these jobs seem intimidating until you actually get down and start working on the tractor. Kubota's are VERY simple machines and are easy to work on. Things I thought would take hours to fix came right apart, and went right back together, not to mentioning teh great help you would get on here.

The term "Splitting" is what scares me. How do you support 2 sides if the tractor is split? It seems this would be difficult for one person in a home garage with no hoist or lift. I have replaced several clutches in a car so I'm sure the actual replacement is the same. Its the work getting to it that scares me.

$1,200 is what a dealer tractor clutch replacement costs in north Florida.

My Opinion, you were too low, you should always start high, if you get no response, you can lower it. Raising it is pretty hard unless you pull it off the market and keep it for a while, then try and relist it.

That would sell in a heart beat at 10K, fixed, then relisted at 13-14k...
Depends on the area, typically my area is high, there's a L2800 gear with a number of attachments and similar hrs by me for sale, 12,500 and it's been listed for awhile, typically I see tractors down south of me or in the Carolinas priced lower.

Seems the gear tractors around me are not big sellers these days.

Probably won't have issues selling.....but I'll give you my thoughts if I was a buyer.....

WHY does it need a clutch at under 400hrs?

What else had been abused similarly and soon gonna need replaced?

IMO....400 hrs on original clutch that is still going strong.....that tractor is worth more than 400hrs w/bran new clutch

I doubt you will find a buyer for a tractor that needs a clutch in the 10k price range.

Get the clutch replaced, power wash the tractor or at least blow out the chaff, the dust and the crude. You should be able to get your $11,500 with the implements then. If the tractor looks cared for, that's a giant selling incentive in my experience in selling two used Kubotas, so far. Not detailed and waxed, but cared for.
