I don't use the boomer much, but it's a pleasure having one at my finger tips. A Hydrostat tractor with a little over 200 hours on it. It lives in a three sided pole barn out of the weather. Boomer in link - http://www.enichesoftware.com/eniche/pole_barn.wmv

Couple weeks ago I needed the boomer, it had a near dead battery, after maybe four months not using it. The cranking was slow and no start. I waited maybe 10 mins and tried again about 3 revolutions it started.

The battery is not the original one, replaced once sense 2004.

Last week I tried starting the boomer again, cranking was slow, no luck starting. I really don't think it's the fuel control. Maybe just connect a bigger 12v battery to it. I got one in a dump trailer, so maybe I'll try that.

I used a BatteryMINDer to preconditioned and charge the old boomer battery. Now today I tried starting it again. It cranks the engine over faster then before, I think enough for to start it. The fumes are quite strong, but does not fire (start).

BatteryMINDer I bought - BatteryMINDer 12 Volt 2/4/8 Amp Wet/Gel/AGM Battery Charger: BatteryMart.com

Anyone have some magic or suggestion or solution?

Good Info:
This link is what the US Army uses with solar panels to keep battery's going with their Humvee's while in storage. BatteryMINDer 12 Volt Solar Charger-Controller with Desulfator Model# SCC180 | Battery Chargers | Northern Tool + Equipment

Something everyone should own? This thing brings batteries back from the dead. BatteryMINer - THIS IS NOT MY VIDEO (but gives idea of what I'm talking about)- BatteryMinder Reconditioning - YouTube

I think this is a great product, I recommend it. Except I'm not having very good luck convincing anyone yet, for sure.

Thank You, for taking your time to help.

Vern, since the tractor started at 50 degrees, it seems your problem might be glowplugs, especially if you smelled fuel, but the tractor didn't start. If you think your battery might be getting drained while the tractor is not in use, lift the ground wire when you quit running the tractor and see if the battery discharges over several days. If it holds a charge, there is some type of drainage in your electrical system. If it loses the charge, then the battery is at fault. Many older batteries will not recover from being fully discharged unless they are a deep cycle battery. Almost every auto parts store can test batteries if you don't know how to test them yourself.
