2005 125 hydro turf torq tranny

Hi Just signed up 2 mins ago. Why have the same old problem with turf torq tranny T40a not working. Pulled tranny out yesterday and opened her up and found part of a very thin spring inside the axle shaft. Oil smelled burnt was dark and magnets were full of heavy sludge and fine particles of metal, not good!
Plan on cleaning and changing oil and filter, anything else?
Tractor is a 2005 125 model.
Where can I find the schematics for the turf torq as need to see where that spring came from?? Gears are in very good condition!

After you clean it I would get ahold of the 5w50 syn oil for it or even the Amsoil tranny oil. It will run cooler and maybe last a little longer.

Thanks for the help guys! Got the schematics from turf torq, however was unable to locate spring I found inside trans axle very fine about 3 inches long,or least whats left of it,diameter is equal or less than the thickness of pencil lead.
Anybody take these transaxles apart that would no location of spring ???

Some lip type oil seals use a very small diameter coil spring to help hold the lip in place.

McMaster Carr has some good pictures in their online catalog.

WOW Thanks Davkir That website certainly shed some light on where that spring could have come from.Will have to take rest of transaxle apart over the weekend to further investigate the remaining parts.
