2006 DK55 Intermittent Starting Issues

2006 DK55 is having intermittent starting issues. Sometimes it starts right up, sometime it takes a couple tries, sometime I try 3 or 4 times and give up and get my other tractor. There is no rhyme or reason to it.

Fuel filter is a year old and I only use fuel from a 5 gal can. I don't think fuel quality is the issue.
Glow plug light comes on the dash and goes off as usual.

Could this be the injector issue or is it probably something else.

When it's not starting, is the engine cranking?

Little more info. Does it crank or cranks, starts and then dies as soon as the key is released.

It cranks over fine. By starting I mean the engine is running.

I would start with the fuel system. Look at the sediment bowl, filter, remove fuel lines and check flow from the tank out to the injectors or bleeders. If the lift pump is electric, confirm that it's running with the key in the run position... They generally make a rapid clicking noise when running.
