My truck just started acting up. When you turn on the heat and turn the fan up it would only blow cold air. Keep the fan on low and you would get heat. The truck temp gauge still reads normal. But I noticed the last couple days I can't get any heat in the cab now. Does anyone know where I should look to try and figure out what is wrong? Thanks

Sounds like a blend door actuator is acting up. Do you hear any unusual noises?

No, I haven't noticed anything unusual.

Does it have automatic heat settings or manual knob type controls? I am not too familiar with your particular truck, but some blend doors are electrically actuated and some are vacuum controlled.

It has manual knobs you turn to adjust heat/cool, fan speed and which vents/ac

Check the fluid level in your radiator. Years ago, I had a similar problem. The low fluid level kept the heating hoses from circulating.

Easy check and fix. Hope this is it!!

I want to update this thread, the fluid was low and was the problem. Never had that situation before but it was a very cheap and easy fix.

Cheap and easy fix on the heater, but leaves a small problem as to where the fluid went... and how it disappeared. In order for the reservoir to still have fluid in it, and the radiator low on fluid, means there is a leak somewhere in the system which isn't allowing it to pull fluid from the reservoir as it cools down. If the reservoir was low and the radiator was also low, then you might want to shorten your "pretrip inspections" intervals.

That is what I am trying to figure out. I have not seen any leaks anywhere. The reservoir was what is low. On the 6.0 you fill the radiator through the reservoir, there is no radiator cap on the actual radiator, its on the reservoir which is mounted more towards the firewall. Its a very different setup then what I am use to.

The truck never ran hot which is why I didn't even consider it being low on fluid. I ended up adding almost 1 gallon to fill the reservoir to the max level and will monitor it to see if it drops and if so how fast while constantly looking for any leaks. I have never seen any leaks though under the truck but am about to pull it in for an oil change so I will get a very good look under it this weekend and hopefully be able to spot any problems.

How have you been doing with your 7710?
