Well due to the drought this year the garden is suffering but I throwed the sprinkler system at it and managed to have a little stuff. We have been getting about a bushel, bushel and a half of squash every two to three days, about a half bushel of cucumbers every 3 days and The potatos will be ready to dig very soon. I've scratched a few up and cooked them for supper. I anticipate about 300 dozen ears of sweet corn, 100 shy of last year and I fiure about 300 watermelons if we can get a little rain. We have picked some pepper and the beans and tomatos have not got ready just yet. I also have bout a half acre of field corn that will come in later on. We relly need rain but here's some pics of what I have. Okra was replanted so it will be later on before I have any. I took about 13 or 14 gallons of honey from my bees and they will be ready to rob again in a few days. My wife has froze 25 gallons of squash and made a few cases of pickles. Life is good regardless of the weather.

Thanks BIRD, I usually sell enough to pay for my fertilizer and seed. I give to anyone old, friends and neighbors but I have found most people had rather pay for the stuff than to come and pick it. Life is good here and regardless of the drought most people have a garden at least the size of mine. I love to garden and don't mind spending my money on things I enjoy. As far as making a business of it, there just aint enough money in it to pay for the trouble. You just have to enjoy gardening to make it worth while. Now honey, theres a little money in but theres also a lot of hard work involved. I couldn't imagine trying to garden for profit or perasonal gain in this town Westminster, S.C. We just never have the right weather for gardens. If I were gonna try to help any needy people I would give them money, not try and grow a garden for them forfood purposes I sure do like eating garden veggies though, it beats a pizza or burger any day. Heres a pic of last faLL GREENS, I grew some turnips 41/2 lbs.

Tony, I looked at that tub of squash and just wondered what you are gonna do with all that? Wow! I know you said it's been dry there, but I can't imagine anyplace being much dryer than here. Your garden looks very healthy. We were away over the weekend, but got lucky and got an inch of rain. That will keep us from dragging soaker hoses for a few days.

It is hard to get help in a garden. It has to be someone who knows how much better fresh veggies are than store-bought. It's also hard when it's so hot and humid that just standing makes you break out in sweat. I picked a half-bushel of blackeye peas last night and I don't think there was a dry thread on my t-shirt when I was finished.

Its funny, when I was a kid I hated working in the garden mainly because I had to and had rather have a burger or most any kind of fast food than what we grew. Now I'm 40 years old and I am just the opposite. I think of that everytime my 17 year old complains about having to work in the garden . Things sure change
