I was wondering if any one else has experienced issues with their transmissons. I was moving forward, stopped, and reversed. As I was backing up I saw a trail of hydro fluid and some metal laying on the ground. I turned the tractor off immediately. I had blown a pin thru the bottom of the transmisson housing and the hydro fluid was pouring out. I looked at the hole and there is a gear laying at the bottom of the housing. I've been informed by the cub cadet dealer that he has never seen this issue before, and that the transmission only carries a two year warranty. I'm concerned due to spending around $10,000 on the tractor and attachments. I would like to have seen this tractor last at least 10 years with out any major issues. The tractor was purchased 12/06 and only has 100 hours on it.

I've worked on a lot of 3000 series tractors out of my garage and have never seen this problem before...I can't even remember hearing about something like this before. If it were me, I'd expect a machine like this to go more than 10 years. I'd look into the warranty in more detail, I know that around that time the warranty changed to 3 yrs...so it may only be a couple months out of warranty. In any case I'd see if the dealer can contact Cub on your behalf, my dealer got warranty work done for me when my 5234D was out of warranty.

alot of times companies dont want their names tarnished by having a blemish like this on their record. maybe theyll get it covered, or get it fixed at their cost, or give you a really fantastic trade in value. it stinks though that unless they fix it for free, you'll be out cash.

Dealer talked with cub and stated there were two possiblilities that caused this. One, being that the dif lock was pressed in while the wheels were turning full speed. Two, the bolts came loose in the transmission. The dealer stated that cub would cover if the bolts came loose. Dealer has had for over a week and not looked at it yet. I'm trying to be patient, I know I not the only duck in the pond. Just have a lot of money invested, and hope is doesn't take as long to get the parts in to fix or I could be looking at a month.

they had mine for 2 weeks to replace a needle valve. you picked a bad time for a break. this is when everyone is getting their tractors ready to mow.

I feel for you Bogey. This is a rough time of year to have any outdoor power equipment in the shop. They're swamped for the most part. Hopefully they'll swap out the whole trans for you and you'll be as good as new.
