Howdy Folks, :)

I push the clutch pedal down, tranny in neutral, turn ignition key to (H) glow plugs heat up 20 seconds, turn the key farther clockwise to (ST) Start---she does Nothing. I touch a screwdriver on the starter solenoid large battery cable post & small post to the right with red wire...She starts right UP............:)

Do you think i need a new solenoid? If so where can i get one? Or do you think it is some other problem?

I just bought my Jinma. The previous owner said this problem just started. She has 67 hours use time.

Thankyou very much for your help.

Have a Great Day........

I'd suspect the clutch safety switch, many of these have gone bad.

You do not need a new solenoid. Touching the large battery post to the small post does the same thing as the key does. That small post is the solenoid winding connection, and if the engine cranks this way when +dc current is applied, then the solenoid is fine. The normal path for the starter solenoid current is from the battery, thru the fuse panel to the start contacts of the ignition switch. From there it runs down to the clutch safety switch and then on to the small terminal on the starter. The first place I would check is as Biggerten mentioned the clutch safety switch. It is mounted on a tab down on the left side of the transmission. When you press in the clutch pedal, at full travel it depresses the plunger on this switch. I say check this one first as it is out in the weather, it's wires are exposed and it can vibrate out of adjustment or be inadvertently relocated by brush:) I have ripped out wiring and damaged this switch as well as have it vibrate loose. The clutch pedal at it's full travel should just fully depress the plunger of the switch. Too little and it dosn't reliably complete the starter circuit, too much and it becomes a stop for the clutch pedal which ultimately breakes the plastic switch body.

My next check would be the start contacts of the key switch. There have been reliability issues with these key switches. My tractor was delivered with a bad one. The identical replacement that my dealer provided has been in and working fine for the past few years and 250+ hours though.

I would vote for the clutch safety switch as well -- easy to check -- Make sure the tractor is in neutral, trace the clutch switch wires back to a two wire connector, unplug the connector, bridge it and try to start it. If it is not the clutch safety switch , try turning the igniton switch the other way (to the left) and see if it turns over -- if it does its probably the ignition switch as Ron suggested, Did I say make sure the tractor is in neutral? It will start in gear and ruin your whole day:(. Oh yeah almost forgot -- check the fuses -- the thirty amp start fuse may be blown by now too

Do as both Ron and Steve say and then also check the battery ground to the frame.
This is a common problem (bad ground). Take off the ground from the frame. Make sure you grind and paint or slag or whatever is there completely off to bare metal with maybe an angle grinder. Then reconnect tightly. I use a star washer so it bites into the steel frame.

Sounds like a clutch safety switch to me also. The only other thing it can be is a bad key switch. First take the time to inspect the wires around the CSS and also check its rigging.

Jumper the CSS and see if it starts, if so you have it. If not its the key switch.

Glad to hear it worked!
When you replace the switch make sure that the rear of it is not forced against the bell housing and that it is not acting as the clutch pedal stop. Either one of these problems seem to do a new switch in in short order:eek:
I bought a two wire trailer connector pigtail, wired it together and plugged it in in place of the switch for "testing purposes". I am still looking for a better switch that is shorter in overall length than the OEM one!
