Looking at a 2007 JD 4720. Less than 400 hours on it. It has not been run in just over 2 years and has been kept in doors the entire time. Battery is dead. Before starting, I think I should drain fuel tank and filter and put new fuel in. Will it have lost prime sitting for 2 years? Other things I should do before I try to start?

Thanks

I agree. New filter and fresh fuel will be good idea. It might start and run fine as is, but with todays' fuel, especially if it has bio fuel in it, Fresh is always best. The fuel has probably absorbed some moisture over the last couple of years, not to mention possibly growing some algae. Some additive to combat moisture and algae would be a good idea.

You might want to loosen the fan belt and check any idlers and the alternator to be sure they are not seized. Then tighten the belt back. Check the air filter for mouse nests too.

Fuel is the main thing. Run it a bit then change oil and check hydraulics. If it really had been cared for and kept inside you should be in good shape. May have some dry seals somewhere so don't be surprised if you have a few leaks here and there. Sounds like you may be getting a great deal.
