I am looking at one of these tractors for use around our house. Can't really find any info on them other than they are made by Iseki. Are they decent units? Has 300 Hours and 60" belly mower guy want $6000 for it. Is that a good deal? Any idea on cost or options for an aftermarket loader? I will use this for spreading mulch, tilling, snow removal, and barn clean out. Any issues I should look at with this unit? Thanks in advance for any help

Same as Massey 1500 series machines with a different style of hood-grill. Price sounds very good to me, if you can check it out in person, take the money and a trailer. You should be able to get a loader from a Massey dealer.

Good luck.

Just because it says Caterpillar on the nameplate don't always make it decent. Cat has built some pretty poor engines. C13's are a good example.

There's nothing CAT about that machine. Should match up with the Massey 1523 tractor. The hood will be more of a 1423 style. Nice littl machine as long as you keep it in its limits.
Should be a nice setup with a mower.

I had an MT285B with a cab. Very nice little tractor. Reliable and got it for dirt cheap. Tractor is made by Iseki and you get parts from any AGCO dealer.
I would have kept mine, but needed to get a bigger tractor.
$6,000 sounds pretty good if it's in good shape.
Words of caution: These tractors went out of production a few years back (they dropped the entire 2XX lineup) so sheetmetal & parts will eventually get scarce. You can get same parts for Massey tractors though.
I got a similar sized Kubota BX2200 with 400 hrs for $5,000, so better deals may be out there, unless it came with extra attachments.

I started with a MT255. It turned out to be way too small for what I needed and when I was looking at used mini ex or a backhoe the clear choice was an upgrade to a MT265B through my local dealer. He treated me more than fair on both units that is why I went Challenger over Kubota. Then he stopped carrying tractors and I had a break down (the fuel shut off failed). I was speaking with my Kubota dealer (ended up with a Kubota KX121 mini ex because they are so much more than the BH on a tractor) about it. He offered to come to my house (45-60 minutes away) the next morning at 0800. It was snowing, he had never been to my house, and arrived at 0815. It took about 5 minutes to figure out the problem and since he was not familiar with Challenger it too about 5-10 to bypass the solenoid and the tractor started right up. We reviewed costs for a new tractor and L4240 was ordered.

I found the Challengers to be a fine tractor. I lost my local support and that was the primary reason for change. The old saying of you will always find a need for a larger tractor is 100% accurate. I found the 265 to be minimum unless you need a small tractor (barns or primary lawn with a bucket to help out on choirs). The L4240 would have been the right tractor the first time for me.

Youn can find parts and support through MF for the Challenger (that's where I picked up a replacement solenoid). As long as it was maintained (engine wise) and does not appear abused it may be a decent price. BUT if you want a loader then you may have extra challenges.

Check the rear trumpet (axle) housings where the MMM mower brackets are bolted on. We had one crack on us, not the tractors fault, was the fault of the one who used an impact gun to install the mower brackets.

Also check to make sure the Front wheel assist works.

Other than that, if you keep it with in it's means, you should be good.

We had a 1523, put 200 hours on it before we traded up. Was too small for us.
