Noticing the fuel pump whine for a while, I wondered when it was gonna die. Well, it did after the local gasoline supplier switched to gasoline with alcohol in it. I measure five percent alcohol in 87 octane gasoline. It's easy to measure if you have a "Fuel-Check" by Daansen. I simple plastic test tube with calibrated indicators on the tube.
The Gators symptoms were rough running motor. No/low power. Spittin' and sputterin'. Back fire and complainin'.
First visual inspections rendered some dirt in the fuel tank, fuel filter with a little dirt comin' out of the input side. Fuel injectors looked alright, but that doesn't mean much. Finger touch as the engine ran said the injectors were pulsing. (No module problems). When the local shop got the pump in, I installed it. A bit of trouble to do 'cause of major dis-assembly. Seats come out, plastic splash underneath comes out, plastic shift console comes out, roll bar bolts come out. Fuel tank was removed and cleaned. I think you get the idea. After replacing the electric fuel pump, the fuel filter, clean out of the fuel tank, life was good. New/fresh fuel. Lots of horsepower. Fuel injectors survived intact. 'Went for long ride deep into the upper mountains for good measure. 'Didn't havta walk back either. All is good.
