Can anyone help me out. I have a 7foot JD rotary cutter that has a Category 2 hitch but my newly purchase 4720 has a Category 1 hitch. Will the Category 2 i-match hitch work on the 4720. My dealer doesn't seem to know the answer after talking to multiple people in parts and sales. If this doesn't work any other suggestions for "easy" hookup. I was really hoping for an I-match easiness!:)

The issue your going to have is pin size. The cat 2 Imatch will want you to use cat 2 pins. If you used cat one pins to attach it to the 4720 it would be loose. The 3 point will spread to fit most cat 2 equipment, but. It would be easier to try to change the RC to cat one configuration. Maybe the pins could be reversed?

Will keep track of this thread for a while. I have changed some pins to cat 1 and the worry i have is not the pin size but that larger pin was designed for a reason and do not want to wreck a set of 3 pt hook ups or a tractor trying to push it too far over the edge. Have also gotten sleeves for cat 1 pins so can use a cat 2 hookup with cat 1 implements.

Congrats on the new rig, i really like mine!!

From the tractor aspect, both the 4520 and the 4720 Horsepower fall into the SAE Cat 2 range. I have learned the hardway that if you push the implements they need to be cat1 / 2 rated.
If you are mostly going to be using the I match on Cat 2 implements, I would mount the Cat 2 i-match using sleeved cat 1 pins.

If possible, get a picture of the mower. Sometimes, the mower maybe category II but can be easily modified by switching lift pins from outside to inside. I have a blade that can go between I and II. I would try to convert the cat II mower to cat I. Most of the implements you would use on a 4720 will be cat I.

I did try to change the pins to the inside but this is too narrow for the i-match category 1 hitch. The category 1 hitch lines up exactly in the middle of the two supports that are welded to the mower deck. Also I thought about trying a category 1 hitch pin with bushings to help with the discrepancy between cat 1 and 2 pins. My other issue is that with the category 2 hitch is it comes very close to the rear wheels. It seems like somebody would have a category 1 hitch that was expandable to accept a category 2 because the tractor has the power to pull this mower!
