I know that the lack of the deisel version not having a clutch cover has been covered here a few times. I wish there was a cure as this has been a big pain in the butt for me.

When I'm crossing a muddy wet branch on my property its not a matter of "if my belts gonna slip", its will I it ever catch enough to get me out of here. The clutch is never submerged but maybe wet for a second.

Is there anything that can be done to improve performance in this application?

Can the Clutch be cleaned without a lot of hassle?

For the first time today I noticed some trouble with the Clutch on dry land. When I started the vehicle and shifted into reverse it did not want to shift. I applied extra force and "chunked" it into gear. I then really had to rev the engine to get it to put power to the wheels. When shifting out of reverse and back into high it was still harder than normal to shift. After driving for a few minutes shifting became almost normal again. But, noticed when letting off the accelerator the engine was still powering the driveline. This went on for longer than the shifting problems. After about 30 minutes or so of operation it was shifting smooth and disengaging as it should.

Any suggestions besides avoiding wet muddy branches appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I think something else is going on with your clutch system. It should not give you problems. Only crazy conditions of very deep mud water will the clutch slip on mine...and when it does slip it just brings the gator down to a crawl until is spins dry again. Here is a video of my gator with my friend driving it. At the 1min 39sec mark is the conditions this gator is used to going through and with no problems.

It is stuck because the pass tire popped and he actually wanted to see what could finally stop this tank!

Please keep us updated and I hope my post helped some.

I have a 2008 850D and the clutch slips on it also when going thru large mud puddles that are only 6" or so deep.
