It's not enough tractor for you long term. But you got a great deal on it now. Realistically if you are doing much ranching or farming you want more than 1 tractor, so this will make a good smaller one & you can get more of a beast later.

And just remember, the L3400 is good for your first tractor. When you buy implements err on the upper range and they may be big enough for your second tractor.

For $10K it is a no-brainer if it runs. Buy it. Use it for whatever you can, and if it proves too small, it'll be a super useful smaller tractor to have around, or you could sell it for more money, and send your relative a "gift" check.
