We had the top drive belt (the small one) burn up on our machine. Found our that the spring to the idler wheel was the problem. We fixed that and replaced the belt(s) - we actually replaced all the belts.

When we put it back together it worked great. Mowed for half a day. Now, it keeps throwing the top drive belt (that small one) and we can't seem to find any reason for this.

Any suggestions?

Did you remove the pulley from the trans? If so make sure it is positioned correctly on the hub. Check the idler pulley and make sure its level and the bolt is not loose, the bracket is not loose at the pivot bolt, or bent. I have also seen the Vari drive pulley bearing go bad or the mount come loose and the pulley will lean and cause the belts to jump. It is usually and alignment problem somewhere with them if they jump off.
