Hey all, first post.
My father-in-law and I checked out a 2008 s175 today at a Bobcat dealer in WI. The machine was traded in by a local dairy farm and has over 12,000 hours (hour meter only reads 2,xxx, but dealer says it has rolled over). I am not as familiar with Bobcat's, but my father in law has owned several and thought the engine sounded good and everything seemed tight. It was due for an oil change and missing the glass door. High speed was also not working at the test drive, but the salesman said the previous owner had disconnected it because he didn't want hired help going that fast.
I recently purchased a 3 acre farmette and I am looking for something to move snow, mow trails, etc. I have been looking for small loader tractors, but my father in law has a John Deere skid steer and nearly every attachment, so it might make sense to purchase a skid steer.
The dealer is asking $8,400. It sounds like this machine has been on the lot for a long time and he wants to move it. He told me there is flexibility in the price and he would install a new door if we worked out a deal. I'm thinking I could get it for $5,000-$6,000. The problem is... Everything I'm reading says stay away from machines with 5,000 hours... and this machine has 12,000!
Any thoughts???
Thanks in advance.
