Hi guys

Got the tractor...shes a beaut!! Got a card in the mail for a free JD hat....no t shirts though. Will hafta send away for the hat. Took some pics of my son practicing on it last Sunday right before it started raining....will load up a couple as soon as I can. Have been wrapped up with moving and next week am out of town all week on a dirt bikin trip to Utah.

Thanks again for everyone's help!

Back from our trip. Was a blast!

Heres a few pics of our 3520 with my son trying her out. The only 'work' for her so far has been a little driveway grading. Was a piece of cake!!! :)

Click the pic for the slideshow.

You're right Pushing Tin! Will be the first time we'll both be anxious to clear the driveway! Michael got in a little more practice yesterday clearing an area for a remote controlled car track of sorts.

Its been a dry year in Denver and Elizabeth. Had our biggest snow yesterday so I got out and did some plowing. Some call it work!! I suppose it may become that at some point in the future, but man...that tractor is a dream!

Naturally, I'm not very good with it yet and it didn't help that there was only 5" or so of light fluffy snow to move (i.e. hardly needed doing) but it was enjoyable.

I'd fired her up a week ago to do a little dirt grading and temp was low 40s and I didn't use the block heater. Ran on the glow plugs for a couple minutes. Yesterday, was only about 20 (if not colder) and with about 45 min on the block heater in advance, she ran on the glow plugs for only about 20 seconds. Seems like its better to use block heater if 40 or below so oil warm and flows better/sooner.

Any thoughts? Also, what happens if its really cold (e.g. zero) and don't use block heater? Will it start?? Sorry...noob questions.

I've treated the fuel so not asking about gelling issues.
Thanks!
Dave

Did some searching....think I've found my answer.

It doesn't have glow plugs...holding the key in (which I've not been doing) pre heats the intake air. Apparently the smoking phase is simply poor combusion due to low combustion temps. Block heater seems to warm not only oil, but also the cylinder block so it warms up faster and quits smoking sooner.
