Ronnie, it sounds like your fuel sending unit is the issue then. If that's the same as mine, you can find the fuel sending unit, part number RE73915 on Amazon for around $24. I would also get the rubber gasket, if you're going to change the sending unit. That is part number R125590.
As for mine, I went through and tested a bunch of test points, and nothing changed. I even made a direct ground to fuel guage, and a direct fused power,and a sender wire, and my guage still only went to 3/4 so unless those can be calibrated, mine is just going to stay the way it is for now.
Thanks for the tip, i'll look into that, like you, i'll probably let it ride myself. I'll fill it this weekend to see what it goes to.
I normally put 6 gallons at a time in for the most part, mow some & add another 6, during the winter months i keep it full, something i was told years ago that helps prevent sweating or moisture:confused3:
