I was doing some mowing tonight in a fairly tight area with a lot of forward and reversing. Everything seemed perfectly fine and as it got dark, I decided to quit for the night. I cut off the PTO and pushed the economy PTO lever to go back into standard then before I got back going, there was a beep and the Power Reverser Information Indicator light was on.

It would no longer engage when I moved the Power Reverser into forward or reverse although the engine was idling perfectly normal. I turned it off with the intention of restarting to see if I could drive it back to the house and it wouldn't even try to start.

I'm guessing whatever went wrong caused the computer to go into a safe mode which wouldnt allow it to move or restart.

I'm unable to find any information in my manual about the situation. Any ideas?

I'm completely stumped. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

First, I would look underneath to see if a stick or something could have pulled a wire loose. Then check the fuses. When you said it would not restart, does the engine crank over? Does the instrument panel light up? If engine does not crank, check battery cables.

One more question. Anyone know how to bypass the "safe mode" so I can at least start it. Im not trying to drive it, but I definitely need to pull it out of the woods where it is now and to do so, I need to be able to raise the bucket off the ground. Would disconnecting the battery for a few minutes reset the computer like it does with a car?

The engine doesn't crank at all. I don't think it's an engine issue as the engine was working perfectly. The indicator light is for the transmission, and since it went off when I changed from economy PTO to regular, I imagine I did something then.

Thank you for the response.

Agree. Time to get out the flashlight, crawl underneath and find the wire that was knocked loose or broken. The woods is a bad place and troubles seems to double at night.

That's the first thing I'll be doing in the morning. I hope it's that simple.

Since it happened literally during the shift from economy PTO to regular and since it's a transmission light, I suspect it has something to do with either the economy PTO linkage or internally in the transmission.

I doubt it's anything internal as far as the ePTO is concerned. All that happens is a shift fork moves a gear set.
Most likely the ePTO external linkage in combination with a stick tangled with the wiring.
The ePTO linkage also connects to you throttle linkage to limit engine speed. Check that too and see if it snagged a wire off something.

As I recently found out while bush hogging, sticks can easily damage the wire harness in these tractors as they are not protected. I no longer use mine for mowing trees taller then the front tires. Hopefully your problem is simple and easy to fix!

I went through it pretty thoroughly yesterday and was unable to find anything out of the ordinary. I spoke with the head mechanic at the dealer and he believes it's a solenoid or something similarly easy. They are coming out tomorrow. Thanks for the help.
