Thank you for the timely reply "J".
I do not have the maintenance/service manual for the T503 and I am curious what led you to the "controller assembly"? What and where is it? Is it the PTO red switch or is it the PTO mode selector switch below the red switch?
Apologize for the blast of questions. Not that I am experiencing a similar problem but your post was of interest.
My 503 has been a great machine, roughly 550 hours now. I had my first problem recently, could not engage/disengage 4-wheel drive. Ended up being the front drive shaft spline. During discussions with my dealer at that time I mentioned it was always tough to engage and disengage. Always took a lot of effort on the handle. He told me to do one of two things, either use the FEL to lift the front of the tractor (which then reduces engagement stress/effort, or, put the beast in reverse and ever so slightly let the clutch out, then shift into 4x4. After that repair I used the FEL method, it took two fingers to shift into/out of 4x4. Thought you might be interested in case you have not heard of the "technique".
Thanks again. Be safe and be well.
