Hey folks,

Kinda new around here...

I was looking for a new tractor... Deere 3000 series or a Kubota 3800 when I stumbled across a used L3240. I visited it today and it is absolutely mint, tires aren't even broken in with 75 hours on it. It almost would be better to have more hours to it... but the warranty is expired. It still smells new in the air conditioned cab and the paint sparkles. I have 45 acres, 24 wooded, 12 farmed by neighbor, 4 that I mow, and 5 that requires bush hogging. My goal is to clean up the woods some and really get the place looking nice, moving some logs, dirt, gravel.. etc. It seems I can do a lot more with the cab and the Grand L series. The seller wants 25k for the tractor with a L724 loader. What would your thoughts be to that price and to what I want to do... Also, what implements would you recommend... bush hog brands???? Many thanks,

Henry

Look on tractorhouse.com and that well give you a good ideal on price. Seems like a good deal to me.

$25,000 is good for a A/C-Cab L3240 in mint condition as L3240 has all the options standard and it is quiet.

With 32 horsepower moving that beefy frame tractor + cab you will be limited to 60" PTO powered implements + some/not all low draft 72" implements.

Are 60" implements wide enough for your available time? Allowing for row overlap we are talking 52" cut per pass with a Rotary Cutter.

The heavy-duty Rotary Cutter brands are BUSH HOG, WOODS, LAND PRIDE and KING KUTTER/PROFESSIONAL.

Probably insufficient power to blow snow. Got time to clear snow with the bucket?

Moving logs will be routine. I move plenty with my lighter B3300SU.

Thanks for the comments. He might be willing to throw in a rotary tiller, disk harrow, and plow.. My concerns are that it doesn't have any warranty, so I eat the cost of potential problems with the machine. Other than that it seems like a very nice tractor. I drove it around yesterday. Also, we receive less than a foot total in snow a year, so I have no need to get a blower. I might use the loader or blade to move snow out of the driveway, but other than that snow removal is not a top priority. Thanks for the replies, keep them coming.

Kubota makes a very reliable tractor... ours have never needed any form of dealer repair since 2002 when we bought the first one. One or two minor part replacements we did ourselves, along with routine maintenance. Can't guarantee you the same experience of course, but the odds are in your favor. If it's a pristine unit, the price is good and it'll do your work, I'd sure be very interested.

I have a 3540 which is the same tractor with just a little more power, I really like it, the transmission is especially sweet to run with the high/low feature. You will have it for a long time.

Around here that would be an excellent price for that tractor in that condition. And if you could get him to throw in the tiller, disk and plow, that would be a steal.

With the money you would be saving, you would still be way ahead even if you have some repairs to pay for. I'd jump all over that deal if the tractor suits your needs.

That would be a great price around here and I am a big fan of the Grand L and love the cab.

My concerns are that it doesn't have any warranty, so I eat the cost of potential problems with the machine.

Kubota has moderately priced tractor insurance. Deductible is $250, thereafter insurance pays. I have made one claim, after bending part of FEL frame in the woods, and Kubota paid $1,100 for their part with no hassle. Repair was performed at my well regarded Kubota dealer.

In the few posts on T-B-N about Kubota insurance everyone has been happy.

You are being offered a good deal. Do not try dicker too much or you may wreck it. Write up a contract listing tractor plus implements involved, to make sure seller/buyer are in full agreement, then buy it.

That tractor will anything the average user would do.I had a L3130(replaced by the L3240) pulled a two bottom plow, pushed a six ft.snow plow, ran a tiller, box blade ect. This is a good buy on a very nice tractor.I put 400hrs on mine and traded for a cabbed tractor(L4240) and have almost 700hrs on it.Just do the service as required.
