MF35 and GC1705
Hi there

Im looking at getting a small tractor soon with a 4in 1 bucket and having trouble deciding between a good 2010 used iseki ( 1 year warranty) 200 hours and a new massey GC series 1705. The price difference is about 2.5k extra for the new massey. Not planning on doing any mowing just loader work , on flat and sloping land. I know they are both good Japanese tractors probably made in the same factory.

Would be grateful to hear from anyone with an iseki tm 3240 regarding performance, reliability and parts availability.

Also anyone with a GC 1705. I have done some reading on the massey and they seem pretty good. Are the GC's more for lifestyle type buyers??How do they go out in a rough paddock?

Thanks and cheers.

I have a GC 1720 (same family and engine) and just used mine for 5 hours pulled out three tree stumps one 20", 12" and 6" with backhoe and loader. Moved a lot of heavy wet clay with my dozer blade and the machine had not much trouble moving large piles of clay. It is a solid working machine no doubt about it. It will move dirt no problem however good idea to get some teeth for the bucket. However, do not expect it to move mountains quickly. It is still a smallish machine but great in areas where you need maneuverability and minimal impact on the landscape. Highly recommend the GC 1700 series thus far. Also the engine sips fuel and is not loud working at extended periods of time at 2600-3000 rpm.

Thanks for your reply and feedback. Test drove a 1705 model yesterday and loved it. Ive pretty much decided on a new little massey. Will probably go with the industrial tyres which I am told have a thicker side wall, and good for loader work. Cant see the point in buying a second hand machine especially when there is not a significant price difference and you don't really know the history of it. Time to start negotiating with dealers (which im not good at!). cheers
