If it's some brand of Chinese diesel like that gas engine they can forget my business. I've had good luck with the Yanmar diesels, I can't imagine JD using any other brand of small diesel.

Do dealers have them on lots yet?

A couple of dealers I've talked to will get their first units the first week of August. Theirs are already sold, so if your dealer is in the same situation you may not see one sitting on the lot for a little while longer.

The gas engined model uses a Chinese-made powerplant. They look nice, but I think I may wait until they come out with the Power Steering as a factory option. Supposedly this will be in spring of 2011. I really like the Gators I have had in the past. They have been more-heavily made than the Ranger I currently have. The reason I like my ranger so much is that it is much faster (and looks like it still will be) and drives literally like a car. The factory power steering is really nice. If I did not have a tractor also and had to carry really heavy things in the bed I think the JD is the better choice. I rarely carry more than 250# in back so the Ranger handles that load without any notice.

Say-the power steering is going to be avaialble on the Diesel Deere-right? I see that the new Ranger Diesel is out and it does not have power steering offered.

The Ranger Diesel does have the digital instrument display-and Deere does not. Still like the cargo box design of the Deere better. These machines look to be pretty close. Price might be better on the Deere.

How can polaris get away with a $13K USA base price??

I'd like to see the head to head testing of the Deere and Ranger diesels...

We still use the Kawi in the 625i (replacement for the 620i) it is only the 825i (50hp, 44mph) that has the new engine.
