2012 John Deere X304
I can jump across the solenoid and it runs, I have change the ECM and solenoid. I have check the key switch, seat, brake safety switch and PTO switch all have checked ok. When I running blades do not engage and the seat switch does not turn the engine off.

Do you get the fuel pump click when turning the key?

I'm having the same problem with my x304. I hear a click when I turn the key. I can start it if I touch the points on the solenoid together and it runs fine, but won't start from the key switch. I've installed new parts including: key switch, ECM, solenoid, battery, fuel pump, carb, fuses, seat safety switch and brake safety switch. I read it could be the fuse relay that prevents the starting. Any help is appreciated...

What is doing the clicking? If it is the solenoid, check what you have for voltage when you turn the key at the purple wire while it is connected.

When the key is in the on position, voltage was 0.0 at purple wire. I'm not sure where the clicking is coming from. It's a brand new solenoid and I know the starter works, so I keep thinking power is being blocked upstream from the solenoid through one of the safety switches or bad wire?

The purple wire is your trigger wire. SO there would only be voltage there with the key in the starting position. Much of Deere troubleshooting for cranking is following the purple wire. Terminals can fail in this circuit at the PTO and key switches. There is also a start relay which could also click and not engage. Set the park brake. That way you can be under the hood determining where the click is coming from while turning the key to crank. M169838 is a common start relay that is located in the fuse box. There are other versions I think depending on your build, but you get the idea.

Ok, thanks. I may order that relay. I'll try to post again in the next week or 2 if I make any progress. Take care.

UPDATE: MYSTERY SOLVED!!
Ok, so I ordered and installed a new PTO switch for the x304, but it still wouldn't start. However, I also noticed that there was a loose wire in a switch/connector that sticks out near the fuse box. It appears to be for an attachment or is not used - not sure of its purpose - It doesn't attach to anything. I pulled both purple wires out and touched them together. The circuit is complete and now it starts!

That's your starter relay connector. Yours id old enough that it isn't in the box.
