Just purchased a new 2013 ZG327; 60" commercial cut. Why did Kubota make the fuel tanks & gauge so complicated? According to manual, if one tank has more than the other one, the fuel will be used on that tank that has the most fuel & gauge will show empty even though the other tank is still full regardless if its R OR L. I Could not find a switch to open the other tank with fuel. The mower will use fuel evenly thru out both tanks at the same time wth fuel gauge showing correct amount only when both tanks have same equal amounts of fuel in them. Am I understanding the manual correctly or did I totally miss it? I had a Hustler Z previously, which had a switch to open the full tank when the other tank was empy. Didn't matter if it was R or L. Very simple design which I like much better. Is their a way to modify the Kubota fuel tanks to be as simple as the Hustler's tanks?::-( :
I know nothing about the gas powered Zs, the diesel (ZD331) I had would only feed off one tank at a time. The right tank was required to be used first with no explanation in the manual (fuel return?). When the level got down to about half a yellow light would start blinking then turn solid. You would then switch to the left tank which did have a gauge (left only). Third position was both tanks off.
After nearly three years and 410 hours I traded it in for another F3680. A bigger loss than I thought with Kubota's reputation but I liked the F so much better.
As a pilot warning lights are not something you want see, carries over to other equipment.
Hope someone with knowledge will comment.
