Hi all,

I have a 2014 LS 4046 which is about 5 hours away at our property. The two brackets that attach the 3 pt hitch to the axle/frame need replaced, i have the replacement parts on site. It consists of two brackets and two bolts for each two brackets. I'm picking up some impact sockets and am heading over there in a couple of weeks. If anyone owns a similar tractor and can get me the socket size it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have an identical same year tractor. I'll measure it and get back with you.

Curious, did the bolt just come loose and fall out or did it break off?

Also, I believe the bolt size is M14x2x35L

He didn't say anything about that. He's replacing the brackets. All the hardware is on site and he wants to have the right tools available when he gets there. Yes, I see the picture only shows one bolt, however ....

Me, I'd had just bought a whole metric and SAE set if I didn't already have them.

I read and fully understood the original post. Replacing the brackets, having the parts, distance away, etc. The reason I asked about the missing bolt is just that, he didn't mention it so that's why I asked. I wanted to know if something specific happened or whether others should be aware of an issue or defect.

I also could said to buy a set of sockets but the question was what is the socket size.

Hi, I didn't realize there were additional comments to this thread. To answer: I ordered replacement brackets and bolts for both sides.

On the one side, one bolt is loose, the other is snapped off. I'm still going to have to remove the bolt that snapped off. On the other side, the part of the bracket that attaches to the three point hitch is broken off.

Not to complicate matters, I have a Milwaukee 3/4 Drive M18 Fuel impact wrench. Most 3/4 inch drive impact socket sets that I've seen don't include sizes down to 22mm. I'm buying a one off, hence the need for the size.

Thanks. IMG_8206.jpg

What I found interesting is how your brackets are different than mine. The brackets on my tractor are all one piece. The brackets are part of the lower frame stabilizers that are painted blue. I don't know if frame stabilizers is the correct terminology or not but they run toward the middle of the tractor where the front bracket for the backhoe is located. There are two main bolts like you have pictured, two lower bolts in the case at the differential then it is bolted to the tractor at the front of the bracket. I just thought it was odd the same year and model of tractor would be different.

My mistake, there are only the two main bolts in the rear. No lower bolts.

Interesting. Just broke same braket on mine a few days ago. Dealer has ordered replacements. Hoping it is warranty covered.

Ah, the adjustable stabilizer bars. I had to replace those too. That said, when I first started looking at tractors 6 or 7 years ago, my thought was minimum 50HP at the PTO. The tractor i ended up purchasing came available via the lender and only had a handful of hours on it - wasn't even a year old and looked brand new. It also had the backhoe which i thought made the deal even more attractive. With this 4046 along with less PTO HP also had the Cat 1 3PT hitch vs a more desirable Cat 2.

I have absolutely no beef with LS or the dealer - both have admiriably stood by the product and supported valid warranty concerns. Long term I may move to something with a bit more horsepower, no diesel regen and a beefier 3 PT hitch setup.

Sure. Maneuvering with a Woods BB720X (with front and rear chains and double wheel setup) attached.

Weird...just broke mine two days ago. Curious as to how the job went. I didn't look to closely at what held the brackets on....I have a 2016 with only 125 hours on it. Shortly after I got the tractor, I got locked out of my fields with a washed out culvert and my father passed away. I was bush-hogging the daylights out of them when I found I had broken the pin on the bracket.

It looks like a pretty straight forward job. Did you have torque specs for the re-install? How did the bolt extraction go?

We just got the brackets fixed this past weekend, hooked the BrushBull BB720X back up and mowed for about 8 hours.
As you are aware, there are two brackets holding the adjustable 3 Pt hitch sway bars to the frame. The one bracket sheared the pin off that the sway bar attaches to. The other bracket held, but sheared off a screw that attaches the bracket to the tractor frame/axle. I used the following tools to extract the bolt that was stuck in the frame, remove the three good bracket bolts and reinstall (no product endorsements, just passing along the tools I used):
Milwaukee M18 ¾ Drive cordless impact 2864-20
Ryobi P271 cordless drill
Milwaukee Cobalt hard metal drill bits
Warrior screw extraction kit (from Harbor Freight)
The Milwaukee Cobalt bits were used as the bits provided with the Warrior kit wouldn't penetrate the screws. Normal sockets didn't work for me getting the other three good screws out, so ended up with this Milwaukee impact wrench. I need to go back over and torque up the bolts properly, if you have the spec on that, please pass it along.
I also welded the sway bar pin back on the one bracket, so I've got spares now if this should happen again.....
