Tractor
LS R3039
So in my search for a new tractor I recently found LS. I like the 2023 size because it is bigger and beefier than other SCUTs. I went and priced one at a local dealer today and spent a little time driving it. First question is if the price they quoted me is realistic or fair. Dealer said $12,900 for the 2023 with a loader.

Next question, I noticed that the tractor had a pretty bad shake in the hood area at idle, especially right after it first started. Is this normal? Could this just have been because the weather was so cold? 18 degrees today.

Sounds like it needed to warm up a bit, should have smoothed out in about 10 to 15 minutes, but 18 is cold on a diesel that hasn't been plugged in with the block heater, but it's nice to know that they will start when it's that cold. I would check a couple of other dealers on price just to see where the dealer is in relation to their quotes.

That's what I was thinking too. Cold weather like that is hard on a tractor that's been sitting outside.

I was really impressed with the tractor. It's noticeably bigger and beefier than the SCUTs I've been looking at, JDs, Kubotas, and Kiotis. Bigger frame, more ground clearance, bigger tires, and standard Class 1 3PH. I just need to sell my little JD 750 and get some money to buy with.

We get a lot of wild temperature changes in Denver, if I know that it is going to snow, I plug the engine block heater in after the late news, sure makes starting a lot easier and less strain on the tractor and starter motor, I also use a battery maintainer 24/7, one of the $20 units from Walmart works great and hardly uses any electricity.

I was quoted 12,500 from a dealer near Tulsa and he was pretty firm on that. So I would say he is in the ball park might get him down a few hundred.I would say it is equal or outperforms other SCUTS on the market and at a lot better price. In case you didn't know this is the same tractor as new Holland only with a heavier loader.

I've called ever LS dealer within about 2.5 hours of me and Magee Equipment in Poplar Bluff, MO has easily had the cheapest quote. I'm not affiliated with the dealer in any way, just wanted to share if there were others in the Midwest looking for an LS. Magee told me that a new J2023 would be $12,200. I've had other dealers quote from $12,500 up to $13,200.

If I can sell my little JD 750, I'll be going to Magee almost certainly.

I don't have a 2023, but I notice both my LS and Massey definitely have some extra shake and bake when they first start up in these cold temps we're having. I set the idle around 1000rpm and do other stuff for a few minutes, and they're purring along just fine. What you're seeing is the cylinders not getting complete combustion (hence the smoke) and that means it's not equal from cylinder to cylinder, so you're getting unbalanced impulses.

Bought mine at Magee's. Beat the local by 3k. Talk to Doug. He will shoot you a straight price from the get go. No haggling, just a good deal.

I just bought a 2013 J2020 this week. It was new. The only difference it has with 2023 is the loader. Its the same tractor. It was $11,800 here in NC. I love mine. Its the perfect size for what I needed. The JD, Kubota, and Massey of the same horsepower were a lower to the ground plus more expensive.
