Again?

They went through this about 30 years ago. Killed about 100 people before they fixed it.

30 years ago? I got a 1956 Mercury Montclair convertible in 1958 and I quickly learned to ALWAYS use the park brake in addition to the "Park" position for the transmission, or it would roll off.

The time I was thinking about was Ford's built from '66 to '79 ~

I think it was labeled the park to reverse defect.

I don't remember that one, although I did buy a new 1966 Ford Fairlane that I'm sure was the worst lemon Ford (or any other manufacturer) ever built. It would have made a Yugo look good. Unfortunately, we didn't have the lemon laws that we now have or Ford would have had to buy it back.

I had a red '66 with a 390 4 speed. But just for a few months, I traded it for a '72 Chevelle. I'd like to have them back now.

I managed a fleet of 6 F-350 service trucks back then, I think they were 1978's.
You had to make dmded sure they were in park or they went into reverse as you were getting out!
As with other things Ford's learning curve is flat!

I also had a '78 F150. Ford's remedy was to send owners a STICKER that cautioned them to apply their parking brake when the transmission was in park. hmmm - now that was a 'real' fix. Never received a recall notice, that's for sure.

On the upside though, I never had any problem of the such, especially since I mostly used mine for drag racing and/or as a show piece. Mud? NEVER. Loved that flare-side F150.
