- thanks to those posting some wiring diagrams!-
This tractor isn't mine, but in a manner of speaking I was asked to fix it. Mmm, OK. I didn't know much about it. It was supposed to have run and cut grass.
Previous owner and the second owner did some wiring "alterations". Hot wired and installed a separate switch for the PTO elec clutch. But it wouldn't stay engaged. Bad battery. Swapped in the proper one and got the clutch working-still w/ added switch, and grass cut. Until I went to shut it down. Wouldn't shut off. -gasp-
Stripped almost every connection, except for the battery terminals, still running. Found an ignition Hot and grounded it and it shut down. Shade-treed a new ignition switch. Same result.
Pulled all the added junk and U-Haul connectors wiring, and meanwhile looked at all the fuses. This is important later. Still the orig. PTO switch isn't turning on the PTO. But I did find that if I put the ign. key at the Lights position and got off the seat it would shut down.
Somewhere in its life someone had borked the headlights a little. After blowing the grass and grease and crud out of every nook and cranny I noticed some goofy wiring at the lights. One light was intact, the other had the wires ripped out _and_ someone had twisted both wires together. Ah geez. Pulled those apart.
I also finally noticed today that the hourmeter hadn't rolled over. The 30 amp fuse someone had slipped in was burned out, I just didn't pull it out and look at it. I ***-umed it wasn't burned looking like an auto application would be.
So-o I put a new fuse in it and everything is cherry. I was getting ready to do the tree diagram diagnosis which fortunately I had downloaded this morning, but all is well. Good ole girl.
Thanks to the folks here at TractorbyNet.
