2180 rear drive wheels

On several occassions on uneven terrain one of the right rear whhels lost contact or traction with the ground and the mower stopped. Is this normal? Do one or both drive wheels transmit power to the ground?

well, yes and no! un evenground yes this could happen?how often does this happen , that is the ???? if more than often then you need to set your pivot bar and adjust your pivot front axle. you see I had this happen to me when bought new I though I would go around and tighten every bolt and nut.i did so on the front axle which caused the tractor front end not to follow the ground, and became riged and caused my back wheels to lose traction.

Perfectly normal. With an open rear differential, the wheel with the least traction will always slip/spin. You will loose ground speed until one of the wheels grabs and pushes you out.

Thanks for the reply. When this occurs, the left wheel has solid traction and the incline is enough to cause the right rear wheel to loose contact with the ground even though the front axle pivots. the right wheel spins and the mower stops.

That's one reason they installed a differential lock pedal on the 3000 series. You depress hte pedal and the rear wheels are locked together.

Your only shot would be to get better tires(Ag's) and add wheel weight...sounds like you are climbing a relatively steep slope
