Tractor
Branson 4225h, Mahindra 2516, several Toro Wheel Horse 522xi machines.
I'm thinking hard on a new tractor.

I've stumbled upon a model I like at an area dealer. I've been told that the machine has been in stock for about 22 months.

Looks good. Some expected minor aging to a few painted portions and plastichrome grille.

4.9 hours on machine.

What opinions on any additional discounting for older inventory? How's an extra 10% above and beyond the routine discount on a a new 2019 sound?

Thanks

10% seems a little low to me, if they cant sell it, soon they have eaten more interest on it than 10%

I should add that the purchase price would be $4,000 below the 2017 dealer INVOICE. (Numbers verified)

(The dealer cost of a brand new 2019 has actually been reduced since the 2017 model year)

What model /size of tractor? Larger tractors with higher prices = possible greater discount. How much of a difference is between the 2017 and 2019 model prices. If it's like $1,000 less now for the 2019, and he's discouting $4000, that's a good deal. If he's only discounting only $1000 more....well maybe not a "great" deal.

The 2017 is about $3000 below the identical model 2019 dealer INVOICE.

My local orange tractor dealer says the initial loss of value off the lot is 30%..So by that math,I would offer them just that..70% of what the original value was. ..the worst they can say is no.

I'm with Tom, particularly if you can make a walk away cash offer. Nearly everything I own has been bought in this manner, always steeply discounting the offer. Knowing that rarely is a 'deal' a once in a lifetime. There are 2x more people in this country than when I was young, and they have 3x as much stuff. Always another 'deal' somewhere. Good luck
