22 TON Husky Log splitter

To get around lifting the rounds up to the horizontal splitter. I would dig a T-shaped trench in the ground and roll the splitter into that. This would put the main I-beam at ground level and the rounds would then simply be rolled onto the splitter. I still had to pick up and throw the splits into the trailer and then crawl in and stack it in there. I'm too old for that stuff now.

the splitter goes into a vertical potions so you can split sitting down.

I think that model splitter can be used horizontally or vertically (see the photos in ooslk's post for sale).

In my post, I wondered why the OP just didn't use it vertically instead of considering a log catcher. Maybe the rounds are very small.

Thanks all - the reason I was thinking of putting a little log catcher on was due to a few things. Most my current rounds are small - 8-10" range and most are cut at 12" long so they are not too heavy. The logs are also slightly spread out so it is easy to just step and grab them and toss them right on the splitter. I also don't really care all that much about lifting them or bending over but when the log ½ falls on the opposite side you sort of have to walk around the machine and pick it up and it really slows me down.

That's not a deal, that is a steal. Wish I could run into that deal! My neighbor has that same one from TSC I believe, bought the 4-way as mentioned earlier and it does make a big difference from what I have seen.

get the catcher. It won't affect the unit if you do decide to use it vertically...

Thanks - at the time I thought it was a good deal and one I better not pass up. Now I am really glad I got it!
