2210 62\" deck--on/off and adjustments

Noticing that as I take the mower deck off and put it back on that the lift arms are always in a different position relative to the stops on the frame. Seems that I can get them adjusted perfect without the deck, and as soon as the deck goes on, they are about an inch from the stops at full lift. Does this happen to you as well? I am getting tired of (and really don't see the reason to) readjust the lift links every time I put the deck on and off. The main reason I used to re-adjust was to get the deck a little higher off the ground at full lift, but I hav efound that just taking it off is easier if I am boxblading or bush-hogging.
Thanks,
Todd

Re: 2210 62\" deck--on/off and adjustments

I haven't noticed your issue on mine, and I take my deck off quite frequently for bushhog and loader work. I DID adjust both the link and the lift arm height in order to get the deck as high as possible for more clearance and so that the cutting height adjuster markings and actual cutting height were close to each other. Since I did this though I have not noticed any variation on the lift arm height.

Fred--thanks. When you take the deck off, do the lift arms stop in the same place as they do with the deck on? If I adjust mine with deck on, when I take it off they just run up until they hit the stops.
Thanks,
Todd

Fred,
With your deck adjusted so the mowing height is set to match the adjustment knob settings. Can you lock your mower in the up position with the knob? Mine was delivered set like this but I could not lock the mower up.

Re: 2210 62\" deck--on/off and adjustments

Chris,

Mine has changed a little bit from when I first got it in March 2003 until now - that is the cutting height changed a bit, whole deck seemed to drop a little bit. It wasn't until early this mowing season that I noticed the arms didn't seem to be lifting as high as before - you're supposed to have a small amount of clearance between the lift arms and the frame, I had a lot of clearance and while I could lock the deck in the up position, it was really only at the 4-5" height.

With the clearance set to the minimum (and the lift rod at the correct length) I CAN lock the deck or just the arms in the up position and there is still clearance between the lift arms and frame w/o the mower attached, too.

I would probably start by removing the lift rod and verifying the length, then adjust the arms up until they just clear the frame at full lift.

BTW...some people have said they can rotate the adjustment knob 360 degrees - that is, spin it. Mine stops at both the install and locked up points, I cannot spin mine completely around.......

Good luck!

Fred,

Thank you for the information. My adjustment knob will spin 360 degrees.
