The posts here on 2210 mostly mention purchases with mmm. Is anyone using a 2210 with a RFM? What size? How is it working? How does this tractor handle other 3ph implements (ie phd and brush hog)?

Now that my lot is cleared and larger work finished, I'm considering trading down to a smaller tractor and the 2210 may be just the ticket.

herbenus,

I'm sure the 2210 would work very well for you if you have already done all the really heavy duty stuff. I don't have a 2210 but I thought I'd respond since I've been thinking lately that I can really see an advantage of using a MMM as opposed toa RFM. I have a RFM and although my 855 is built to handle a MMM I chose the RFM because it was much cheaper, easily available, and simpler to hookup. I never take my loader off when mowing because I don't do all that much mowing and I'm lazy. The problem I'm finding is that the length of my tractor with the loader on and the 60" RFM makes it more difficult to negotiate in certain areas. Although the RFM cuts really nicely and works like a charm I think that the MMM's they make these days are very easy to remove and would really work better if mowing is your primary taask. I haven't heard of anybody specifically using a RFM on a 2210, but it would certainly be capable from a lift capacity and PTO HP perspective. I would think it could handle a 60" RFM, but probably only a 48" brush hog--52" brush hog if there is such a size.

I, too, believe in the merits of the MMM. I can speak from experience that the 2210 with the 62C MMM is very impressive, indeed. Just a bit loud. I just bought a set of Peltor WorkTunes from Coatal Tool On-line (best price around) and I'm pleased as can be. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif If you buy a set from Coastal, tell Todd that "Pete" sent you.

There's a gent over at the yahoo JDL&G forum who is running the 4 ft JD rotary mower on his 2210, so I'm sure it will handle a similar or somewhat larger RFM. I have a 2210 and I recall the lift capacity being about 700 pounds. About the only limitation is that the lift arms don't lift as high as a "regular" cat 1 due to the smaller tires and wheels making the entire tractor lower to the ground. There have been a number of posts in the attachment section where people have lowered the 3-pt lift points in order to raise the implement higher. Other than weight (and 17 PTO HP), this is about the only limitation to a RFM on a 2210.

Well part of my thinking is that I can't really use my 4200 for finish mowing around the house. Kind of big and it tends to leave ruts. I was planning on a RFM this season but still have doubts about it working close in to house for the above reasons. Enter the 2210. Lighter and with turf tires, I think I could use it up close to house as well as out in field. I would still have my 48 inch brush cutter if needed. I'd equip 2210 with a loader. I think I would be awfully close in price between what I could sell 4200 for and what 2210 would cost. RFM might be cheaper but MMM might be better deal for my plan.

herbenus,
I have a 4200 with the 60"MMM and also found it too heavy to mow around the house. My sol'n was to buy the wife a JD LX176 lawn tractor with a 38" mmm and a 10 cuft trailer. I use it for mowing near the house and she uses it for everything, it is her very own mechanized wheel barrow. An additional benefit of the lawn tractor along with the 4200, as a solution, is that I don't lose seat time when she wants to putter. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I also have a lawn tractor, Husky 42". Works good around house. But if I had a 2210 with say 60", MMM or RFM, it would cut my mowing time down considerably. And I'd also save time in pasture versus my 48" brush hog. Plus I'd like to get away from manual transmission into hydro. I was considering a 4210 or 4110 as replacement. But now I'll throw 2210 in the mix.

When I got my 2210 I talked the wife into keeping the 335. Actually my son did - he's good at running the 335 but the 2210 is a bit too much for him at 9 years old. But even the 2210 w/o ballast, at 1400 pounds, is a heck of a lot lighter than a mid- or large-chassis 4XXX tractor.
