After a short 5 hours my 2210 is back to the dealer for two wierd problems. One, the loader/bucket is not level side-to-side compared to the tractor. On any surface with the left edge of the bucket touching the ground, the right edge is 3/4" off the ground - and it was like this from the get-go. I've moved a lot of snow and firewood with no change so I don't think the condition will improve. Problem two, at 3/4 up to full throttle I occasinally hear a sound that reminds me of a vibrating fan blade just barely touching/nicking something stationary. I made all the obvious checks and nothing appears wrong. I've also asked them to install the missing grill guard (oops) and mid-PTO cover.

So far, I love the tractor, but not happy with the dealer - Nelsons in Greenville, MI. Time will tell on both tractor and dealer.

I will post the results of the repairs. Has anyone else experienced these issues?

I don't own a JD, but I know the bucket level issue is common to all makes/brands. The cause is from assembly...the mounting posts were torqued down before any pressure was applied to the FEL or there was something under one end of the bucket when they did this. Easy to correct, just loosen the mounting brackets and apply a little pressure on a level floor and re-torque.

Can't help you with the ticking sound tho! I know you must be anxious to play with your new toy, and I'm curious how you like it after you get some time on it. At least it doesn't sound like you have any serious problems. It sure seems like it'll be a fine machine when you get these little things worked out... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: 2210 back to the dealer - Update

I heard back from service today. They removed the loader, removed all brackets and remounted everything. The loader is now only off by 1/4" or less side-to-side.

Regarding the engine noise, they checked for fan blade interference, bearing interference or any other rotating assembly that might be causing the noise. Everything came back OK. They think the noise is simply the governer maintaining a constant RPM during a no-load condition, causing just a bit of a rattle. I'm not sure I buy this, but now that they have a service record, I'm OK with continuing to use the tractor.

I really like the 2210. I moved up from a 335 in order to have a loader, 3pt and PTO and 4WD. So far I've only used it for snow removal but I've found it to be easy to operate. It started easily at 10 degrees with the glowplugs and it's much quieter than the air-cooled Kaw motor in the 335. About my only complaint is the lack of a folding ROPS, I have an enclosed trailer that is about 6" too short, but it I need to take it somewhere I'll pull the ROPS off, 3-4 bolts per side to remove/replace.

Re: 2210 back to the dealer - Update

I heard a simular noise in a 2210 that I was listening to run at the dealers. The shop forman and store manager also heard it and couldn't find the noise as it only happened for maybe 30-45 seconds.

In our experience the most common cause of the loader not being level on these small tractors is unequal air pressure in the rear tires. Almost everytime this is the culprit and the easiest thing to overlook!
