2210 Battery good.

I have seen posts claiming that JD batteries are no good. I just thought I'd mention that I have now had my 2210 for 5 1/2 years and the battery is still strong and holds a charge very well in the "off " season. The only maintenance the battery has had is an occasional exterior cleaning. I'd say 5 years under such conditions aint bad at 'tall. That being said watch Murphy step in and kill it.....

You are lucky-very lucky. You should buy some Lotto tickets!

The main problem is not holding the charge-it's holding the acid! They are well known for leaking acid everywhere...

I posted about JD batteries and I think you're ahead of the game just by checking up on the darn thing. Mine simply wouldn't start one day, and when I looked the battery had corroded through the terminal connector.

I just replaced the battery lead terminal connector and kept the battery. I'm just gonna look up on mine and clean it as needed for preventative maintenance, but like Kenny said, they can be leakers, so congrats on the good luck!

I've had just over 4 years of trouble free service from mine. But I must confess, as **** as I am about maintenance, the battery is usually the last to check. Reading about battery issues here made me take a peek. Boy, am I glad I did. About 1/2" of corrosion on the + terminal. I can't believe electricity could even get through it. Cleaned it up with a wire terminal brush and cleaner, then sprayed it with a corrosion protectant (all came in a little cleaning kit). Probably saved a lot of headaches this winter by cleaning it up.

I picked up my 2210 on 11/22/03. still has the original battery. I clean the posts and put red goop on them. It has about 450 hours on it. I did install a 50amp alternator about 3 years ago.

Now if someone could figure out how to make house paint spread as far as that red goop or never sneeze you could paint your whole house with one quart.... It's amazing how much of a mess you can make with one small dab of that stuff...

3 years and 3 months on my 2305 battery. Every spring and fall I check/top off the cells with DI water and clean the terminals. No cracks or leaks yet. I do have one thirsty cell 3 in from the negative terminal but it only takes about an ounce to top it off. That will be my failure point someday.

I bought my 2210 in the late fall of 03 and I still have the original battery. I've never gooped or maintained anything. I surprised to hear it's an issue. And it's been through many -40 winters.

my 2210 was kept in heated storage, and smoked the battery about 2-3 years into its life. Oh well, not a big deal to me really......

I have had mine for 5 years. Only problem was the need to replace the terminal. However, I have notice the acid leaking and probably will be getting a new one before long.

Mine lasted 2 1/2 years. It just wouldn't start the machine one day and couldn't even be jump-started, so I guessed it was a dead cell.

Just replaced it with an Exide from TSC.
