2210 battery

Hey everyone I'm new to the forum,
So I have a Deere 2210 and want to know how long a battery should last. I know car batteries are usually good for around 5 years but I'm not sure about this one. It has had the same battery since it was new, mfd. date on it is 2003, so it's 9 years old. I know it's old but the tractor has 70 hours on it, not a lot right. Anyway it has started every time with no trouble until yesterday.

On Wednesday night I was using it in the dark with headlights on, and then headlights and flashers on while on the road, first time operating with lights for an extended period of time. Thursday I went to start it and it might have cranked half a turn then nothing. Should I put the battery on the charger or go get a new one, I already have it pulled out.

Mine lasted 4 yrs.. which is probably average for them..

After 9 yrs I would replace it.. you got just about all the juice out of it there is to get.. hehe

I replaced mine with a Advance Auto DuraGold - it was about $110 and has a 3 yr replacement warranty/84 month total. I did have to modify the hold downs since the OEM battery has tabs at the bottom to secure it.

8 hours per year? Its a wonder the battery didn't die a long time ago. 9 year old battery, its seen greener pastures.

Bought my 2210 in the spring of 'o4 and now has 678 hours on the original battery. I think the longevity of the battery has a lot to do with maintenance and care. I have kept the terminals clean and never run the tractor less than 10 minutes. If - as last winter- it should sit for more than a few weeks I put a trickle charger on it. It is amazing but then I just replaced the original battery in my Toyota which was also 9 years old, maybe the Japs know how to build a better battery.

What Brian said exactly matches my battery experience and outcome on my 2320 machine.

I doubt it. My camry eats a battery every 3 years like clock work.

I have a 4 Wheeler that has a 7 year old battery.

Batteries just aren't predictable.
