Greetings,

Last year i bought a 2210D tractor with no operators or parts manual. I have a number of questions.

1st Where can i get an operator and parts manual?
2nd- How do i use the 4wd?
3rd- i was told only use the 1st gear on the PTO shaft when using the rotary mower. Is this true for the tiller as well? I ecently bought a used tiller as well?
4th- How do you check for oil on the tractor?
5th- My breaks go straight to the floor, how do I tighten them?

I know these questions sound elementary but I really have no choice but to ask at this point? Can antone help?

I'll take a stab at this one

1st Where can i get an operator and parts manual?

most of the dealers that use this site can get you and american yanmar manual...I'll let them chim in

How do i use the 4wd?

Shove the lever forward to ingage...or pull backward and do this when stopped. Don't use 4wd on hard serface's like asphalt or the like

3rd- i was told only use the 1st gear on the PTO shaft when using the rotary mower. Is this true for the tiller as well? I ecently bought a used tiller as well?

You most likely have 2 PTO speeds one is 540 and the other is 1000. 540 is the one you want for your tiller and mower

4th- How do you check for oil on the tractor?

Motor oil is on the valve cover, hydro./tranny oil is between your legs and has a dip stick attached to cover the motor dip stick is on the side of the block somewhere...straight forward

5th- My breaks go straight to the floor, how do I tighten them?

Should be an adjustment berrol in the linkage to tighten up...and I have herd to flip the brake pads when there worn out to extend there life...there a simple version like a drum brake.

Will there be anything else...while I'm at it? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hoye tractors has some manuals but it may not be an exact match. There are good manuals on cd's for some models. Try google!!
Your pto has 4 speeds. Almost all implements used in America run properly at 540. Your 1st gear at 2200 rpm is best match. I sometimes mow ( 4ft bush hog) in second pto gear at abount 1700 rpms!!! (clever those Japanese) I calculate this to be near 540 pto rpms also. I don't use the other pto gears.......All my implements would lug the engine too much if I lowered the engine rpms to create 540 pto rpms..... My 2210 likes the 1700 or so engine rpms and 2nd pto gear with that little brush hog!!! Most would say just use the 1st gear at 2200 rpms though. I would not use my KK tiller with any other gear or engine rpms.... In Japan they use all the pto gears with the tillers but I don't have one of those tillers and I don't know the formulas........Your manuals will answer your other ?'s.....

( breaks go straight to the floor ) If the pedal goes all the way down with no resistance at all, for both sides, I would be concerned. It is possible the shoes are missing, or something is put in incorrectly, but the few times we have seen a unit with absolutely no pedal resistance has been because the pinion gear to the brake was snapped. No small, nor inexpensive, repair.

Incorrectly adjusted brakes almost always seem to have a little resistance on the pedal, even if the stopping power is nil.

Based on advice from others here at TBN, I now use the 2nd PTO gear with my 2pt Yanmar tiller when I make a second pass over the area to be tilled. Seems to help break up the dirt clods better. I wouldn't use anything but 1st gear with a rotary mower, though. You'd be putting a lot more stress on the mower by spinning it up twice as fast. The mower has a lot more weight spinning at a greater distance from the center point than a tiller.

If you look up yanmar on ebay there are some manuals on computer cd there right now! I did not look to see which tractors they are for cuz I got all the manuals I need.....

scrinch, just curious what RPM are you running the engine at when you are tilling with the PTO in 2nd? Thanks!

I run it at a normal 2200 engine rpm. Others have claimed to use 3rd PTO gear with their tillers. I haven't tried that yet. But there is very little spinning mass at any distance from the axis of rotation on a tiller, so the stresses shouldn't build up that high.
