I've got turfs on my 2210. When the subject of tire chains came up in another post I went to the www.tirechains.com web site to see what was available. (lots for rears, none for fronts) To doulble check the tires sizes on the 2210, I went to the John Deere web site. I noticed that they now offer 3 choices of tires for the 2210. R1 Bars, R3 Turfs, and R4 Industrials.
It got me to thinking, can these different tires be mixed? e.g. can you put R4's on the front and leave the R3 turfs on the back? The R4 Turf tires on the front just do not have enough sidewall strength when lifting heavy loads of dirt or large rocks in my 53" bucket. Even at 22 psi (max rated on side of tire) they still look squashed. I've had more than one person tell me that my tire pressure looked low.
I've got (6) 42# quick-tach weights on the drawbar (mounted through the handles) and I can put at least 2 more on. This does help lighten the steering.
On the other hand, would the R4's be too much for the lawn?
Just some thoughts.

Mine had the R-1`s on it when I bought it and it tended to tear up the grass on sharp turns. So the dealer sold me Turf wheels and tires at his cost. Now I have both sets.

IMO you really need a weight box with about 300-400lbs in it to offset the loader. If the front tires are squishing down alot you might be overloading the front axle..Time will tell.. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I agree with JD Dude. You don't have enough rear ballast and will cause problems. If you read the manual it will explain. I have the Ballast Box full of sand and works quite well.

I also would try just chains on rear and see how it does. With proper weight on rear I would think you would get plenty of traction.

Ditto Ditto Ditto
The other consideration for rear ballast is the fact that the front axle isn't designed for all of that extra load, and ballast on the 3PH offsets the load put on by the loader. That point is easliy forgotten when people say they aren't lifting heavy loads, but it is true that the owner's manual states the need for 3PH ballast, in addition to wheel weights and loading the tires. As far as mixing tires, because the sizes are the same, you are probably ok running R-4 with rear turfs, but that doesn't mean you won't need rear ballast. Those tires shouldn't be a problem on the lawn, they are fairly wide. (compared to the 5.7" R-4 on the 4010!)

No you can't mix wheels and tires... unless the diameter of the wheel you are replacing has the same diameter of the one you replace it with. Keep the overall tire diameters within those sizes your tractor was shiped with. Diameter differences will create overwind in the gearcase and prematurely wear the gears in the drive and tranny. This is applicable to 4wd models only. Slight variations in wheel diameter (1/2") will not mean as much according to my dealer when I tried to switch tires and not rims. Would have had to buy the whole set of four - tires and rims. Look on the Kubota Owning & Operating forum about a month back to see the feedback.

Does anybody know of a good source (outside of the dealer) for tractor tires in sizes to fit the sub CUT tractors? It appears that all the sub CUT's take pretty much the same size tires - 26x12.00-12 on the rear and either 18x8.5-10 or 18x8.5-8 on the front. I have only been able to find turf and bar (ag) type tires in these sizes in my searches. I have a Kubota BX23 on order and was thinking of putting heavier duty - maybe industrial - (instead of the bar tires) on it because I intend on using it for some pretty significant excavation and wanted something that would stand up. I have noticed as well that all of the sub-CUT tractors I looked at had 4 ply tires on them whether they were turf or bar tires. There are higher ply rating tires available in the rear size that have significantly higher load ratings than the 4 ply - but I have only found one manufacturer of front tires in the 18x8.5-10 size that made an 8 ply (instead of 4 ply) tire. If the 2210 has industrial type tires available I am wondering who manufactures them because they might be a good choice for my tractor. I looked at the Deere site and could only find two choices for tires on the 2210 - a turf and a bar tire. Where did you look to see this information?

I think you will find that the OEM Kubota wheels and tires are a very resonable price. Much less than JD stuff..

I think a set of wheels and tires in these sizes from Kubota are in the $300 - $500 range. I was looking for another source of tires because was wondering about going to something more heavy duty than the 4ply tires that are supplied by Kubota. The front wheels on the subCUT tractors from Kubota and Massey take a 4 bolt wheel - it looks like the 2210 takes a 5 bolt front wheel as does the NH TZ series subCUT tractors I believe.
