I was going to borrow a rotary cutter soon, to do some property up north. Don't have much use for one here, just trying to clean up to sell.
JD says only 4ft rotary cutter, but can use a 5ft rotary mower. My neighbor has a light duty 5ft cutter. The only thing I was worried about maybe is weight. Thought better put on FEL, maybe with come dirt.

The 2210 would probably handle the 5-foot hog in grass, but you would probably strain the limits of the tractor in anything heavier than very light duty. I don't have any experience with a hog on the 2210, but have read plenty of dicussions on PTO HP rating and brush hog width. Overcoming the weight of a 5-foot versus a 4-foot would be the lesser of the two concerns.

I thought the weight would be also. As far as HP goes, why can I run a 62"MMM and not 5ft rotary cutter. I too have seen the post on hp. Does the rotary cutter take more hp than finish mower?

I run a 4-ft 403 on my 2210 and never notice the engine strain even in brush/heavy grass. So the power is there. Not sure about front ballast thought with a 5-footer. Just seems like too much mass hanging off the back.....

Hi

I have the 4 foot LX 4 on a 2210 and it doesn't seem to lug the engine at all. I haven't been in anything real heavy just 2 foot grass and light brush. I would think the power is there it will just be a weight thing. You will definately want some weight on the front or the loader on. You can always take a smaller cut if it seems to be lugging the engine too much.

Finally found time to go north and get some grass cut. Loaded everything up, went to buddies house to get KK 5ft rotary cutter.
Found out that it would not go on my I-Match. Was going to remove, then remembered without I think the shaft is too long. Is that correct or did I make that up in my sleep?

The length is probably OK with the cutter down and/or with the toplink set to a longer setting. If you shorten the toplink to lift the cutter higher when transporting you might find the PTO shaft ot be too long with the cutter raised up

I don't know about any other cutters but the JD LX4 shaft is too long, either have to cut it or use it with a quick hitch.

I had to cut the shaft for mt Frontier Tiller even with the iMatch. No biggie. It reallys is pretty easy.
