2230 54\" mower mowing problem

good morning- I have the 54" deck for my 2230.If I make any sort of turn or am mowing on almost miniscule slopes even at slow speeds the left side of my mower almost scalps the lawn. It's very noticable.also on the left side a fine line of cut grass piles up. I checked the front links and the distances seem to be ok. perhaps I should have gone with the 60" self leveling deck. Also should the mid hydraulics drop if there is nothing attached?suggesstions?
great helpful site.

I don't have the 54" but from the lack of any negative reports about it, I'd say that your MMM isn't properl adjusted. Find a level hard surface and set your MMM to your normal mowing height. Then measure your outside blade tips with them pointing side to side. If one side measures over 1/4" different than the other you've found the problem.

Good luck

Re: 2230 54\" mower mowing problem

I've got the 54" deck and have had no leveling problems with it, however we only use it on a field where it's set at the tallest setting of 4". If you haven't done so, maybe you should try adjusting the 4 anti-scalp rollers so they match your cutting height (they are supposed to travel 1/4-1/2 inch above the ground when mowing). If you end up using different positions on the rollers left vs. right side, it indicates the deck itself is not adjusted properly. Your owner's manual shows the procedure for adjusting it.

The mid hydraulics (that raise and lower the deck) are on the same mechanical linkage as the rear 3pt. You raise and lower them both with the same lever. When you remove the deck, the linkage that attached the rear of the deck remains on the tractor and goes up/down when you raise/lower the 3pt arms.

You know your deck isn't level and that's the problem for sure. I would suggest you re-read the owners manual to refresh yourself on the situation and find a level surface and take a look at it as was mentioned here. Good luck...
