I'm curious. When I lower the 3-point, everythings fine. When it raises however, I have to be watchful. If the hitch lever stays in the UP position (not float), the engine starts to lose RPMS. When adding throttle and the engine "bogs" i know I have not returned the hitch UP-DOWN lever to neutral. Soon as I do I get my RPMS back.

Although I dont think anything is broken, I sure would like to know the relationship between RPMS and the 3 point hitch lever.

Obviously, I do not understand the theory here...this is a learning experience for me...

Is there a mechanical adjustment I can make so that this lever returns to neutral by itself?

This is probably just normal, when the 3 point reaches the end of its travel, and the valve is still in the lift, the pressure releif valve kicks in, it kicks in at max hydraulic pressure which puts the full load of the pump on the engine. the fix is to adjust the two jam nuts on the rod attached to the lift lever so it kicks the lever off before it hits the mechanical stop. you also run the risk of damaging the o ring on the piston as on some of these the piston can overextend the cylinder. this is because the stop block is cast onto the rear cover and over the years, the pattern must have worn down... but it is not a problem if you run int those two nuts a quarter or half inch.

You loose engine rpms when your pump loads up.. pump loads up cause your lift is not adjusted correctly.. BC gave you good advice..
