I am replacing the large 3" felt dust washers located on below the front hubs.
One side went very well. But on the other hub, I must replace the accordian boot on the steering shaft. I have removed the cotter pin and spindle nut. I tried beating on the stud with a wood block. No go. Must I have a fork to insert much like a ball joint? Or should I beat a little harder on the block of wood. Or maybe some heat? Or maybe some penetrating oil?

At any rate, I will not be able to remove the hub unless I get this steering joint disconnected.

Go to the autoparts and buy one of the split boots for shocks, they are also sold at 4x4 parts stores....

they are split down one side so you dont have to pop the tie rod out, simply open up slip it over and snap it back together, use some silicone if ya want to help it stay tight. mine fell off 4 years ago and I ahve not replaced it yet. not really required to have one but does keep weed damage from scratching the steering cylinder rod.
