I bought a 2240 in July. It is a 1981 model, so the later series and a Mannheim tractor. It ran well when I bought it and have changed all the fluids and filters, cleaned the hydraulic system screen and have been fixing the issues an old tractor like this one has: new starter switch, new tie rod end and drag link, got all the lights working, etc. I think this tractor must have been used very little in the last few years, since it had a date on the air filter of 6/11 and the filter wasn't very dirty at all. Also it had a few things that were tight and somewhat rusted such as the brake tie bar. I mainly use it with a back blade to maintain my 3/8 mile long driveway and will plow snow with it. Last time I used it was a month or so ago to pull a trailer with 2 and 5 year old grandsons up the driveway very gently. Anyhow, noticed that the fuel filter was leaking while it was sitting in the shed and determined it was the filter itself, so installed a new one. Then I had a very difficult time bleeding the air out of the system. Thought it might be the screen at the inlet of the injection pump, cleaned that out, but there wasn't really much to clean out, it looked good. Also made sure the return line was clear. Finally got it to start, but it only will throttle up part way, and the idle isn't as good as it was. Some online research leads me to believe the injection pump is headed South, perhaps the governor ring is broken. I'm thinking the Roto diesel pump will need rebuilding and I might as well get the injectors done while I'm at it. Should I try to get a rebuilt pump and injectors from the dealer or find a diesel shop and get them to rebuild what I've got?
