226D PTO seal replacement

226D leaking oil from PTO shaft. I've got a new seal but can't figure out how to get the back plate separated from the end of the transmission housing. There's a ton of bolts back there and I've removed most of them and it still won't budge...

Welcome to the forum. :welcome: If you haven't moved anything yet then quit what you are doing and try removing the seal and installing the new one. You are on your way to removing the whole pto assembly. Sending you a pm.

the pto shaft is 1-3/8". The metric seal is 38 x 55 x 8. (1.496 ID) It should slide over the pto shaft. Make sense?

The seal goes in from the inside so the cover will need to be removed. The highlighted bolts and nuts will need removed from the rear plate. The whole thing will pull out as one unit. You may need to remove your PTO shift handle so that the shifter can pivot enough so the fork will let it all slide out. You can see the fork by looking down from the top after removing the three point lift assembly. You will need to remove your three point lift assembly to get it splined back together and the fork back in place anyway.

Should have posted back. Tomrice and I had been doing some private messaging and had figured out the pto would have to be removed. But thanks to Aaron for his shared knowledge.
