Ya know, I really regret that I don't post or view here anywhere near as much as I once did. Seems all I do now is come to the boards when I have problems. The last time I posted was about a year ago when I discovered a "flaw" in the PTO stub of my now 9-year old GC2300. The flaw was that the groove for the PTO connector was only about a half-inch from the end of the stub. Long story short, my dealer and MF split the cost of replacement with me (which meant splitting the tractor). It took a little doing on both our ends, but that's how it worked out. Which brings me to today.
The brush cutter hooked up great. It cut great--no problem. No shaft came off; all was well in the land. UNTIL I was mowing up the hill and pushed too hard on the throttle lever (which has a tendency to creep back a little). I guess I got a little too excited and if there's a screw clamp or something that attaches it, it came off. The tractor immediately went to idle RPM which I assume means the cable retracted to that position. I heard something drop into the cowling but everything's hot and it's time for a beverage anyway. However, if I can get this going tomorrow, I'd love to knock my fields back before the goldenrod goes to seed.
Problem is I have no idea what that setup is supposed to look like. If I can retrieve the loose parts, any chance I can put it back together myself? Does anyone happen to have a diagram or a hint of how to reassemble it so I can get back in the saddle? I seem to be cursed with this job. Just like last year, I got two passes done today before I did myself in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks folks!
