Ya know, I really regret that I don't post or view here anywhere near as much as I once did. Seems all I do now is come to the boards when I have problems. The last time I posted was about a year ago when I discovered a "flaw" in the PTO stub of my now 9-year old GC2300. The flaw was that the groove for the PTO connector was only about a half-inch from the end of the stub. Long story short, my dealer and MF split the cost of replacement with me (which meant splitting the tractor). It took a little doing on both our ends, but that's how it worked out. Which brings me to today.

The brush cutter hooked up great. It cut great--no problem. No shaft came off; all was well in the land. UNTIL I was mowing up the hill and pushed too hard on the throttle lever (which has a tendency to creep back a little). I guess I got a little too excited and if there's a screw clamp or something that attaches it, it came off. The tractor immediately went to idle RPM which I assume means the cable retracted to that position. I heard something drop into the cowling but everything's hot and it's time for a beverage anyway. However, if I can get this going tomorrow, I'd love to knock my fields back before the goldenrod goes to seed.

Problem is I have no idea what that setup is supposed to look like. If I can retrieve the loose parts, any chance I can put it back together myself? Does anyone happen to have a diagram or a hint of how to reassemble it so I can get back in the saddle? I seem to be cursed with this job. Just like last year, I got two passes done today before I did myself in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks folks!

This may be old news but I just talked to my dealer and he informed me AGCO has opened their parts diagrams to the public via their website: agcopartsbooks (dot) com. Once there, select your brand and navigate to your particular tractor.

As for my situation, the throttle cable is affixed into an elbow that connects to the handle. The cable snapped right where it is fused to the elbow. Unfortunately, it's a bigger job than I can do at home so the dealer will pick it up. Just when things were going great...

Sounds like a swaged elbow on a cable or has the cable actually frayed and snapped at the elbow? The reason I ask is there are sometimes replacement ends that can be swaged on as a replacement.

Thanks Mike; I appreciate the reply (and the terminology lesson). You are exactly right that it is a swaged elbow on a cable but from what I can tell it did snap at the elbow. I have to take the blame for this one myself. I think I just pushed the handle so hard I broke it right off. I can't see any reason the cable would have been frayed, though you'd think it would take a lot to break it off if it wasn't. The dealer said they've never had to replace one before so it certainly must not be common. Your suggestion about a new elbow that can be swaged on is a good one; any idea where I'd get such a critter? I looked at Fastenal online but don't see them there. If they don't have them, I don't know who would.

Thanks again.
