Caution: Put this one on your pre start checklist. I noticed the other day while on the BH the outrigger foot was loose. Knocked off the mud covering it and notice that the pin that holds the foot was working its way out. It appears that the small light weight bolt that hold the pin broke off, this happened with both feet. With the pin working its way out it bent the foot on one side and bent the outrigger arm on the other. Had to break out the C Clamps, Vise, and hammer to get them straightened out to get the pins back in. All is good.

Question: Is there a specific reason the small bolts that hold the pin are not heavier duty? I want to replace with hardened bolts but I don't want to change if there is an engineered purpose. I also notice that all of these bolts don't have the lock nuts fully screwed in so the bolt can move freely on the pin. What is the purpose of this? I just have this urge to want to tighten them all up.

The bolts are meant to be loose so under load they do not shear. As long and they have the lock nut on them they should be good to go. If you want to put harder bolts you can, just do not tighten the lock nuts all the way.

What 1971 said is exactly what I do. I think the reason that a lot of those small bolts break is because they are over torqued and they eventually break. Put in a new bolt with a nylon lock nut and don't tighen it all the way down.

I'll maintain the loose bolt with lock nut but my situation was not caused by over tightening, it was the original setup. I believe the cause was when outriggers were down and the bolts got pressed up against something hard like a rock and it broke off. I would think this is common as this happened to both feet. My tractor is now up to 150 hours.

When I had my 2310, I've had to change some of those bolts on my backhoe bucket. I think the rocks must have damaged them digging. I also notice it is tight location to get to the grease fitting under hoe at end of swing piston under seat. plowking

Roger that on the tough to get to fittings.

My tractor only has ~ 15 (fun filled) hours on it, but last weekend when it was too wet to work outdoors, I took out my trusty grease gun and went to town. There were several grease fittings on both the bucket and the backhoe that were pretty tight, but I think I got them all.
