Has anyone run into this? Left seal of the steering arm bushing started leaking the other day. I have about 180 hrs on the tractor. I'm out of warranty so I'm wondering if this is a do-it-yourself repair or one better left to the dealer. I'm no slouch in the mechanic department, but never touched anything like this before. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

I do not know if you have a service manual, looking in mine it shows; a seal a packing and an O-ring. Other than that there is a threaded end called a "head" and the shaft its self. I have not worked on one but, it does not appear to be a difficult job. My first concern would be are there any special tools required? You could pull it off and try to disassemble it and if you can't you could punt it to the dealer.

Thanks, it doesn't sound too bad. I guess the first step is for me to get a service manual. It's not leaking so bad it can't wait a few days, if I have the dealer pick it up it'll probably be gone for a week anyhow.

You wouldn't happen to have a part number for that service manual would you?

That's a very handy list, my dealer deals primarily with much bigger machines, and often it takes them quite a while to find part numbers for the little 2310.

Thanks a lot!

Your welcome, NAPA also has the engine oil filter, #1360 (don't expect to save any money). If they are closer for some people it may be more convenient.
I know of no other cross references.

Did you get your seal fixed, the picture looks a lot like the Kubota BX series steering cylinder. I rebuilt the one on my BX2200, took about an hour after I got it off the tractor, four seals and five O rings inside, not too tough you should be able to handle it.

Thanks for asking, Haven't had the chance to do the repair yet. From what you say and the service manual, sounds like its a matter of replacing the leaking seal(s). Once I get the parts it shouldn't be too bad. (I hope)

I'll post some pictures when I get 'er done

The hardest part of the whole job was getting the internal lock rings out of the end of the cylinder, once that was done, it was pretty straight forward. Yours may be made a little different and I'd be interested to see how it's made inside.
