I bought a 2310 diesel 4WD manual transmission about 2 years ago. I wanted a backhoe so the dealer suggested and installed a Woods 6500 Groundbreaker. The tractor is just used around our property. I've used the backhoe to remove some tree stumps, rocks and a little trenching. First, I want to say that I am not disappointed with the backhoe. It seems very powerful. My nephew is a professional landscaper and he helps me around here and has been very impressed with the tractor and the backhoe. We've had some issues with hydraulic lines and had to replace 2 already. I don't like the way they were originally routed so when my nephew and I replaced them we secured them a lot better to limit abrasion on the outer jacket.
However, this has been my biggest problem. It is the mounting plate for the backhoe. I am about to have it replaced or repaired for the 3rd time and the tractor only has about 220 hours on it. The last time this happened the dealer took this off and added welds to make it "stronger". The backhoe seems to pull away and it looks like some sort of metal fatigue.
When I was at the dealer they ordered a new plate and said when it came in they would "strengthen it with additional welds" before they installed it. And now that it is in they want to charge me for all this. And it is not cheap and I of course have to get the machine over there if I want them to do this.
So some questions and the first being:
"Is the Woods 6500 just too heavy for this model Mahindra?"
"Does anyone know of any defectiveness in the mounting plate?"
"Am I being unreasonable or should the dealer be offering to fix this problem at their cost?" (I think they are very reputable and have been in business a long time. But I'm an "amateur" when it comes to knowing some of these things.)
One other interesting observation: When I was at the dealer for a replacement plate they thought they had one in stock. However, the one they brought out was for an automatic transmission. What I noticed was that this plate was much thicker and the welds looked much stronger. The dealer told me that this is just the way Mahindra makes the two but it should not matter when mounting the Woods backhoe.
I would sincerely appreciate any information.
Thank You.
